Man left comatose after being shot in head at a Taichung night market

TAIPEI, Taiwan — A man was shot in the head, allegedly by an acquaintance, yesterday in the Datong night market of Greater Taichung.

Wang, a 42-year-old vegetable vendor, was sent to the hospital emergency ward and was comatose as of press time. According to a police report, Wang and the main suspect were under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred. A preliminary report indicated that Wang and an acquaintance surnamed Chen had argued over a debt during breakfast. At 8:44 a.m., Chen allegedly shot Wang in the head and fled the scene.

Upon arriving at the crime scene, the Fire Bureau of the Taichung City Government (���F�����X���F������) sent the victim to Kuang Tien General Hospital (���к��X���|) for emergency treatment. Police said they have identified a main suspect and are searching for the suspect’s whereabouts.
