The Taiwan International Hotel, Restaurant and Catering Show (HORECA, xWڶ[\]Ʈi) is scheduled to kick off on June 24 in Taipei, featuring various food preparation equipment while providing a procurement platform for businesses in the hospitality industry. A total of 187 companies will participate in the show in 602 booths. The scale of the exhibition, which grew 15 percent from last year, is the largest since the exhibition was first held six years ago, said event co-organizer Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA, ~T|). The HORECA show is in fact part of the super 5-in-1 Food Expo, which will also showcase food, and hotel and restaurant industry products at the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1 and Nangang Exhibition Hall until June 27. The mega show essentially connects the whole supply chain in the hospitality industry, said TAITRA Exhibition Department Director Kang Yih-jyh (dq) at the pre-show press conference yesterday.

We have very high expectations for the exhibition. The government has been pushing hard for tourist number growth in recent years, Kang said.

In Taipei alone, the number of hotel beds grew by about 20,000 in recent years. The hotel and the related hospitality industry have very good prospects, and are on track for continuous development, Kang said. The show offers a convenient one-stop procurement platform for the nation’s hotel, food and restaurant players. With the growth in tourist numbers, there is a strong demand for related products and services, said Tiger Lin (LZ), the managing director of event co-sponsor Chan Chao International Co. (iLڥ~). Innovative Products in Hospitality Industry At the pre-show press conference yesterday, a dozen companies were highlighted in the Hospitality New Trend Show. Among them were coffee machine maker Nespresso, German high-pressure cleaner manufacturer Karcher, tea and coffee machine maker KLub Technology Corp (Sf), Italian toiletries producer Allegrini and steak cooker Sansaire (Ц). Karcher, whose smart floor cleaner won the top award in ISSA 2014, will present a series of cleaners specifically made for restaurants and hotels next week. KLub’s tea machine allows its users to set up automatic extraction programs that can eliminate human errors while creating a consistent flavor in various kind of tea. Allegrini’s environmentally friendly products have made headway in 120 lodging and hotel facilities in Taiwan. Sansaire’s sous-vide cooker uses precise temperature control to prepare consistent texture in steaks. TAITRA said the 5-in-1 Food Expo entails Taiwan International Hotel, Restaurant and Catering Show, Taipei International Food Processing & Pharm. Machinery Show, Taiwan International HALAL Expo and Taipei International Packaging Industry Show. About 7,500 buyers are expected to attend the show. The top 10 buyer countries in 2014, in sequence, were China, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, the U.S., Singapore, South Korea, the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia.
