TAIPEI–The Central Weather Bureau (CWB) issued a warning for low temperatures on Wednesday, forecasting that areas north of Chiayi County and parts of northeastern Taiwan will see the mercury fall below 10 degrees Celsius starting in the afternoon.
An approaching strong cold air mass will affect Taiwan until Friday morning, and temperatures will be at their lowest from Wednesday night to Thursday morning, the bureau said.
The greater Taipei area and Yilan County in northern Taiwan will experience temperatures of 15-17 degrees during the day on Wednesday but then turn cooler later on, according to the bureau.
In central and southern Taiwan and eastern Hualien County, daytime highs should range between 20 to 24 degrees, but the bureau urged the public to beware of the sharp dip later in the day, as the mercury could fall to 15 degrees in these areas Wednesday night.
Sporadic rain will only occur in Taipei’s Wenshan District and the northeastern part of Taiwan, but skies across the country will be cloudy due to poor air quality.
