Taipei 101 fireworks will feature wildlife in Taiwan

TAIPEI–Taipei 101 released an animation Wednesday of the New Year firework display, a record-long show that purports to feature wildlife in Taiwan.

Themed “Nature is the Future,” the display will show images of fish and plants to raise environmental awareness, Taipei 101 said, adding that at 238 seconds, the fireworks will be the longest since the skyscraper’s formal inauguration on Dec. 31, 2004.

In addition, there will be 56 more firing spots installed on the building compared with last year’s display, to give a better visual effect, said Chou Te-yu, chairman of Taipei Financial Center Corp. (TFCC), which operates the Taipei 101 skyscraper.

The display, which will involve setting off 30,000 rounds of fireworks from midnight Dec. 31, will also come with a concert at the Taipei Civic Square, where A-mei will heat up the night with a one-hour show.
