TAIPEI, Taiwan — A limit of 6,000 visitors per day has been set for the duration of Wuling Farm’s (武陵農場) cherry blossom season in Taichung City, from Feb. 2 to 22, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC, 交通部) has announced. Cherry blossom paths draw crowds of visitors to Wuling Farm in February every year. To prevent traffic congestion, the ministry has imposed strict controls on visitors and cars for the past four years. Out of the 6,000 limit per day this year, 1,800 tickets each day have already been reserved for visitors who purchased travel packages that include accommodations. Out of the remaining tickets, 1,000 are reserved for visitors traveling in groups and go on sale through travel agencies on Jan. 11. Tickets for the remaining 3,200 visitors traveling by bus go on sale Jan. 19.

Group visitors can reserve tickets to visit the farm during particular time slots through the Yilan County Government’s website. Those planning to go by bus can purchase tickets through Kuo-Kuang Bus (國光客運), 7-Eleven, Hi-Life or Family Mart convenience stores. The price of bus tickets from Taipei to Wuling Farm is around NT$730, the same as in previous years, and tickets are expected to be sold out within minutes, officials stressed. Travel time from Taipei to Wuling is around four hours. Ministry officials said that transportation plans for the cherry blossom season have been organized with the support of the Veterans Affairs Council’s Forest of Central Cross-Island Highway and Development Administration (退輔會森保處), Wuling Farm and the Taichung City and Yilan County governments. Officials are urging the public to take public transportation and said there will be six routes available to the farm. Prices range from NT$160 to NT$730, and include departure points from Taipei Main Station, Taipei City Hall Bus Station and Yilan Bus station, among others. Also, last-minute bus tickets will be sold at Lishan Tourist Center (梨山遊客中心) from Feb. 5 to 21, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., where visitors may purchase packaged tickets for the next day that include bus fares and admission to Wuling Farm. Each person is limited to buying six Lisha-to-Wuling-Farm packaged tickets per day, officials said.
