BARCELONA — Las Palmas got a stoppage-time winner after Eibar had two players sent off to secure a 3-2 away win in the Copa del Rey on Thursday.

Jeronimo “Momo” Figueroa curled the ball just inside the post to grab the win, after Las Palmas had erased two one-goal deficits en route to their first away victory of the season.

With the match level at 2-2, Eibar’s Izet Hajrovic and substitute Gonzalo Escalante both earned straight red cards for violent tackles in the last 10 minutes.

Cadiz had advanced to the round of 16 after previous opponent Real Madrid was disqualified for fielding an ineligible player, but the third-tier team will have to overcome a 3-0 home defeat to Celta Vigo to go any further.

Swedish striker John Guidetti scored twice for Celta on either side of a Jonathan ‘Jonny’ Castro goal.

At the Municipal de Ipurua, Hajrovic opened the scoring before Aythami Artiles leveled when he headed in Juan Carlos Valeron’s free kick.

Saul Berjon had Eibar back in front by the 20th, but Wakaso Mubarak blasted home a long strike after receiving a pass from Valeron, again from a free kick, with half an hour to go.

The game was heading for a draw when Eibar’s aggressive tackling cost them dearly.

“We went out there a bit cold, but we were able to come back,” said Artiles. “The two expulsions helped us a lot.”

Defending champion Barcelona routed Espanyol 4-1 Wednesday, while Athletic Bilbao, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Sevilla, and Deportivo La Coruna got positive first-leg results.

The return legs will be played next week.
