Tourism Bureau, TLC to promote through vloggers


TAIPEI–A total of 12 vloggers will appear on the Travel & Living Channel (TLC) this year to broadcast information about their unique visits in Taiwan in a collaborative promotional effort with the Tourism Bureau.

The program will show how the vloggers — ranging from an Indonesian comedic brother duo and a Malaysian beauty expert to an American chef — experienced Taiwan in a unique way, “Fun Taiwan” presenter Janet Hsieh said on Tuesday.

For the first time, the show will adopt a dual-perspective approach, from the program itself and through the lens of the vloggers, Hsieh said.

It is hoped that the guest presenters would use their influence in the blogosphere to share with their audience new ways of having fun in Taiwan, she said.

The vloggers, meanwhile, said they were impressed with the beauty of Taiwan.

“You guys have so many mountains, so much to explore here,” said J.J. Yosh, an American extreme athlete, who tried various sports and body treatments, including a Taiwanese hot stone massage, during his visit.

Now in its 12th year of partnership with TLC, the Tourism Bureau is hoping to take advantage of the influence of social media to attract more diverse visitors from across the world, said Wayne Liu, the bureau’s deputy director-general.

The program, which has 10 episodes, is expected to premiere in the second quarter of 2016.
