TAIPEI — People hoping to see snow in Taipei should keep their fingers crossed, as the Yangminshan National Park on the outskirts of the city might see snow around Saturday due to a strong cold spell, the Central Weather Bureau said Wednesday.
The peaks of Datunshan and Qisingshan, which are over 1,000 meters above sea level, are most likely to see snow, forecasters said.
The bureau said precipitation could be heaviest between Thursday and Saturday, with temperatures at their lowest between Saturday and next Monday.
It is therefore mostly likely for snow to fall on Saturday, when weather conditions are most favorable, it explained. There is also a chance of snow on Friday, the bureau said.
The last time the Yangminshan area saw snow was in 2009, bureau data shows.
