“Passionate” is a common first impression of Mexican people, particularly the country’s artists, musicians and chefs. To highlight the uniquely passionate spirit of Mexican food to local residents, Hotel Royal Group (老爺酒店集團) is hosting the “Viva Mexico” (墨西哥食尚週) food festival in Taipei, Hsinchu, Tainan, Taitung and Yilan. The festival is also in line with growing health awareness and rising focus on natural ingredients like olive oil, lime juice and tomatoes, explains Arturo Cristiane, the Mexican executive chef of Hotel Nikko Saigon, who is the festival’s guest chef April 15-30. So head to the event, cosponsored by the Mexican Trade Services Documentation and Cultural Office in Taipei (墨西哥商務簽證文件暨文化辦事處), for a full-fledged Mexican dining experience that brings to life the Spanish word “viva,” meaning “to celebrate.” ■
