Hualien Media, HMV Digital China join forces to expand in Greater China

The China Post

Founded in 2014, Hualien Media International has already garnered a lot of attention in Taiwan’s movie industry as a production and distribution company boasting a highly integrated investment-production-promotion-distribution process. In its second year of establishment, Hualien invested, produced and distributed the megahit “Our Times” (我的少女時代), which grossed NT$2.8 billion globally and attracted inquires and exchanges from businesses worldwide — especially from venture capital firms, cultural and creative companies, and film studios in Greater China. Its success over the past three years has spurred the firm to expand its business strategy and — after close contact and discussion with industry leaders in Greater China — such a vision is finally taking shape. Hualien Media International announces that, through its holdings company Vantage Metro Limited (益都有限公司), it will merge with HMV Digital China Group Ltd. The two will jointly build a video entertainment industry chain encompassing the markets in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Mr. George Hsieh, chairman of Hualien Media International, will continue to run the company’s business in Taiwan after the merger. Hualien Media International also invites its partners from HMV Digital China Group to Taiwan to discuss future business strategies and make relevant official announcements. HMV Digital China Group is a Hong Kong-listed company (8078.HK) engaging in entertainment production and marketing, artist management and record production, and the operation of cinemas, HMV retail stores, online entertainment and an online shopping platform. The company is currently valued at around HK$4 billion. Hualien Media International will maintain its passion and professionalism in producing excellent film and television titles, and continue to serve our audience.
