TAIPEI (CNA) – Nantou County’s eighth annual Global Tea Expo (2017南投世界茶業博覽會) opened Saturday, featuring tea cultures from around the world and tea-related performances and a sampling of some of Taiwan’s finest teas.

Exhibitors from Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam, Russia, Iran, and Taiwan have been invited to the expo to give visitors a truly global tea culture experience, Nantou County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen (林明溱) said in his opening remarks.

He also singled out the tea samples and tea snacks that will be available to visitors and the expo’s tea craft exhibitions, tea ceremonies and special tea culture demonstrations as among the highlights of the nine-day fair.

The expo, being held at Chung Hsing New Village until Oct. 15, is expected to attract 500,000 visitors and generate more than NT$50 million (US$1.65 million) in revenues, Lin said.
