The 23rd Citi-United Way Fundraising Campaign kicked off today. Taiwanese artist Kimi Hsia, appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for this 4-month fundraising event in the name of “Love Together,” invited the general public to make charitable contributions and spread love to where it’s most needed.

“Citi has strived to achieve corporate social responsibility and upheld the mission of promoting growth and progress,” said Paulus Mok, Citi Country Officer for Taiwan. “The Citi-United Way Fundraising Campaign not only calls on the general public to make donations and help disadvantaged people, but also symbolizes a good example of exerting corporate influence to inspire more people and companies to take part in volunteer work and contribute to society.”

“It takes time to help underprivileged people to change their predicament in life. It’s impossible to get instant results,” said Chen Yong-qing, Chairman of the UWT. “For that, we launch an appeal to donate NT$500 per month for the Citi-United Way Fundraising Campaign and encourage the general public to support this cause by making a regular donation so the power of helping others can remain uninterrupted.”

Over the past 22 years, the Citi-United Way Fundraising Campaign has raised funds of more than NT$1.7 billion. More than 7,800 small and medium-sized social welfare groups in every corner of Taiwan have been supported and over 9,600 helping hands programs have been promoted. Meanwhile, Citi and the UWT also empower other social welfare groups to enhance service quality and marketing skills in a move to help more underprivileged people out of the woods.

In an effort to thank donors for their donations, the organizers invited local illustrator Emma Lin, also the chief designer of Taiwan’s well-known brand emmaAparty, to make creations for charity. In this year’s charity cooperation, emmaAparty-brand “Rocker” – a Shiba Inu dog loving rock and roll – will speak as a Goodwill Ambassador for the 23rd Citi-United Way Fundraising Campaign to convey that supporting volunteer events rocks!

Those who donate more than NT$500 for the 12th straight month or make a lump sum donation over NT$6,000 can get a set of a Shiba Inu dog keychain and cute canvas bag.
