TAIPEI (CNA) – Former President Ma Ying-jeou (馬英九) is set to depart on Saturday night on a six-day trip to the United States at the invitation of an American think tank and a private research university in Los Angeles.

After arriving in Los Angeles on Saturday night U.S. time, Ma will visit the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association, the Ma Family Association, and the USS Iowa Museum the next day.

Ma will deliver a speech on Taiwan-China relations at the University of Southern California and meet with Taiwanese students afterward on Monday.

On Nov. 7, he will attend a roundtable forum held by the Pacific Council on International Policy, a nonprofit membership-based organization focused on foreign policy, before catching a flight back to Taiwan that night.

He is scheduled to arrive at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport early on the morning of Nov. 9.

The trip will be Ma’s third overseas visit since leaving office in May 2016. He visited Malaysia in November 2016 and then visited New York, Boston and Washington D.C. in February this year.
