TAIPEI (CNA) – The weather will remain wet and cool in northern Taiwan on Thursday with northeasterly winds lingering, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said.
Extremely heavy rain can be expected in Yilan County, while heavy rain is likely in Taipei, New Taipei and Keelung, the bureau said.
Daytime highs on Thursday are forecast at 24-26 degrees Celsius in Yilan, Hualien and areas north of Taoyuan, 27-28 degrees in Hsinchu, Miaoli and Taitung, and 30-31 degrees in central and southern Taiwan, according to the CWB.
Meanwhile, meteologist Daniel Wu (吳德榮) forecast that temperatures across Taiwan will rebound significantly Friday as northeasterly winds weaken.
Western Taiwan could see daytime highs exceed 31 degrees on Friday, while those in eastern Taiwan might reach 30 degrees, he added.
On Saturday, a new wave of northeasterly winds is set to arrive, bringing cool and rainy weather to northern Taiwan, he said.
