TAIPEI (CNA) – The weather will remain rainy in northern and eastern Taiwan on Monday due to lingering moisture brought by northeasterly winds and a tropical depression, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said.
In particular, heavy rainfall is expected on the northern coast and in mountainous areas of Yilan, Taipei and New Taipei, the bureau added.
Daytime highs on Monday are forecast at 24-27 degrees Celsius in northern and eastern Taiwan, and 28-30 degrees in the rest of the country, according to the CWB.
Lows of 20-23 degrees are expected at night and during the early morning, it added.
Meanwhile, meteorologist Daniel Wu (吳德榮) forecast that the weather will warm up across Taiwan on Thursday and Friday as northeasterly winds weaken, with daytime highs likely to reach 30-31 degrees.
The next wave of northeasterly winds will arrive at the weekend, when northern Taiwan could see overnight temperatures drop to as low as 14-15 degrees, he said. ]
