TAIPEI (CNA) – Strong seasonal northeasterly winds will arrive in Taiwan this weekend, sending the mercury down to a low of 15 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan and 17-18 degrees in central and southern Taiwan, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) forecast Tuesday.
This will be the strongest wave of cold air to hit Taiwan so far this autumn, CWB forecaster Li Meng-hsuan (李孟軒) said, advising people to prepare for big fluctuations in temperatures over the next few days.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the weather in northern Taiwan will remain cool and soggy with northeasterly winds lingering, Li said.
Daytime highs on Tuesday are expected to reach 22-25 degrees in northern Taiwan and 26-30 degrees in the rest of the country, he said.
As the winds weaken on Thursday and Friday, daytime highs around Taiwan could rise to above 30 degrees before taking a nosedive over the weekend, he predicted.
