TAIPEI (CNA) – The annual Taipei IN Style (TIS) opens today at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, featuring fashion displays, seminars and competitions.
Organized by the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF), the four-day fashion fair aims to promote the country’s fashion industry and boost exchanges between local fashion talent and global professionals, the federation’s Secretary-General Huang Wei-chi (黃偉基) said Wednesday.
Promoted as an all-in-one trade fair, the event comprises house shows, seminars and business matching meetings, Huang said.
He said there will 208 booths for the 145 participating local and foreign exhibitors, while 14 fashion shows, four seminars and some design competitions will be held during the fair.
One of the highlights of this year’s event will be the results of a collaborative project between Taiwanese sewing machine manufacturer Collins Co., Ltd. and an international environmental non-profit organization Redress that was aimed at driving circular economy solutions in the textile industry, the TTF said.
Under the project, Collins has been working with fashion design students at Fu Jen and Shih Chien universities to design clothing made from waste cotton fabric, the TTF said.
