TAIPEI (CNA) – The weather will remain cold and soggy in northern Taiwan Monday due to seasonal northeasterly winds and a cloud system from southern China, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said.

The chances of rain range from 70 percent to 100 percent in Yilan and areas north of Taoyuan, the bureau said.

In particular, there will be heavy rainfall in parts of Yilan, the mountainous areas of Taipei and New Taipei, and on the northern coast, while wind gusts of intensity 9-10 can be expected along Taiwan’s coastline and in non-built-up areas, the bureau said.

Daytime highs on Monday are forecast at 17-22 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan, 19-26 degrees in central and eastern Taiwan, and 27-29 degrees in southern Taiwan, according to the CWB.
