Taipei, Feb. 12 (CNA) Clear weather is forecast across Taiwan from Monday until Lunar New Year’s Eve on Thursday as the moist conditions decrease, but low temperatures will prevail due to a cold surge, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).
The temperature was around 10 degrees Celsius in most parts of Taiwan early Monday but can be expected to rise to 13-15 degrees in northern Taiwan and 18-22 degrees in central, southern and eastern Taiwan during the day, CWB forecaster Hsu Chung-yi (徐仲毅) said.
Although the cold surge will begin to weaken Tuesday, lows of less than 10 degrees are likely in northern and eastern Taiwan early Wednesday, Hsu said.
During the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday, mostly clear to cloudy skies are expected across the country, except on Feb. 16 and Feb. 19 when there will be a chance of rain in northern and northeastern Taiwan due to the influence of northeasterly winds, he said.
