Taipei, June 3 (CNA) A tropical depression west of the Philippines is expected to develop into a storm and bring rain to Taiwan, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said on Sunday.
Although the depression is moving toward China’s Hainan Province, its outer rim is likely to induce rain and cause long waves for southern and eastern parts of Taiwan from Tuesday, CWB forecaster Lin Po-tung (林柏東) said.
As to another depression south of the Philippines, chances are high that it will strengthen into a tropical storm in one or two days, pending the development of several variables, Lin said.
On Sunday, a weak front is still lingering near Taiwan, with the northern coastal region, the eastern areas and mountainous parts in northern Taiwan to see occasional rain, he added.
Daytime highs in northern and northeastern regions will hit 30-31 degrees Celsius, while highs in central and southern Taiwan will range between 32-35 degrees, bureau data showed.
