Taipei, Aug. 26 – Taipei mayor Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) held his last book signing event at Eslite Xinyi Store (信義誠品) in Taipei in the afternoon. His wife Peggy Chen (陳佩琪) also attended the event with him. The first stop of the tour was at Zhongshan Underground Book Street (中山地下書街) and was held in Tainan and Taichung City as well.

The mayor’s new book A Proud City with Progressive Values (光榮城市) published in late June, is followed by a book tour held in northern, central, and southern Taiwan respectively.

The event held yesterday was a full house, with more than 400 fans and attendees participating and taking part in the book signing and discussion process. The number assigning started at 10:30 a.m. and within 10 minutes, the numbers were “sold out.”

During the speech he gave at the signing event, Ko mentioned that his goal is to build a government and society that is trustworthy – the law is fair, public servants serve well, the police catch bad guys, and jail is only for the guilty. Many people’s first reaction is “Okay tell me about it.” “But our nation is not like that right now,” Ko said.

Aside from fans, three city councilor candidates also attended the book event to photograph with Ko.
