Taipei, Aug. 28 (CNA)-Trains operating on the South-link Line, which connects Pingtung and Taitung counties, have been instructed to cut speeds due to flooding caused by a tropical depression, the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) said Tuesday.

Trains are currently traveling at 60 kilometers per hour between Fangye Signal Station and Jialu Station, and 30 km per hour between Gangshan Station and Qiaotou Station, according to the TRA.

All other TRA trains and high speed rail services across Taiwan are operating normally.

The tropical depression dumped torrential rain on southern Taiwan overnight Monday, with more than 200 mm of accumulated rain in the region between midnight and 6 a.m., according to the Central Weather Bureau.
