Taipei, Sept. 7-An approaching frontal system from the north is expected to bring rain to Taiwan Friday afternoon and into the weekend, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).

The weather will be sunny to partially cloudy Friday morning, giving way to afternoon thundershowers in western Taiwan and mountainous areas, CWB forecaster Chu Mei-lin said.

As a weather front approaches from the north late Friday, showers or even heavy rain can be expected across Taiwan, Chu said.

She said the wet weather is likely to continue into the weekend, particularly in northern Taiwan, due to the front, the first this autumn.

Meanwhile, daytime highs of 31-34 degrees Celsius can be expected across Taiwan on Friday, falling to 28-30 degrees in northern Taiwan on Saturday under the influence of northerly winds, according to the CWB.
