TAIPEI (CNA) — With the end of 2018 knocking at the door, countdown parties and firework displays have been organized around the country to celebrate the end of the year and to create a festive cheer for 2019.
At the various New Year’s Eve parties, celebrities, singers and dancers will perform across the country to join crowds in counting down to the new year.
The New Year’s Eve Countdown Party and Taipei 101 fireworks display in Taipei will be held from 7 p.m. Monday until 1 a.m. Tuesday in Taipei City Hall Square and include performances by pop diva aMei (張惠妹), hip hop trio MJ116 (頑童), South Korean girl group EXID and other artists.
This year’s Taipei 101 firework display will have approximately 16,000 rounds and will run for 360 seconds. It will be accompanied by animated show on a LED lighting system called the T-Pad, which will be projected from north side of Taipei 101 from the 35th to the 90th floors.
The Miramar Entertainment Park Tonight to Nine party in Taipei, being held in the site’s plaza, starts at 8 p.m. Monday and will feature performances by singers Andrew Tan (陳勢安), Julia Wu (吳卓源), Jess Lee (李佳薇) and rapper DJ Didilong (李英宏). The fireworks at the party will run for 300 seconds.
Keelung City’s Big Band party, which kicks off at 8 p.m. Monday at Keelung Harbor, will include performances by bands Your Woman Sleeps with Others (老王樂隊), TaiKo Electro Company (台客電力公司) and The Chairman (董事長樂團).
Taoyuan’s News Year’s Eve party, which will run from 7 p.m. Monday until 12:30 a.m. Tuesday in front of the high-speed rail’s Taoyuan Station, will include singers Jeannie Hsieh (謝金燕) and Eve Ai (艾怡良), and the LamiGirls cheerleader group affiliated with the Lamigo Monkeys of Taiwan’s professional baseball league.
Meanwhile, in central Taiwan, a party in Taichung’s Lihpao Land will kick off at 6 p.m. Monday and run through 1 a.m. Tuesday with performances by singers and bands including Amber An (安心亞), Lee Chien-na (李千娜), 831 (八三夭) and Wubai (伍佰) & China Blue.
Taichung’s Rock in Taichung Final Countdown Party that began Sunday at the city’s Fulfillment Amphitheatre will continue at 1 p.m. Monday and run until 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, with performances by bands 831 (八三夭), Mixer (糜先生) and Chthonic (閃靈).
Nantou Qingjing Farm’s New Year’s Eve party starts rocking the night at 7 p.m. and goes until 0:50 a.m. Tuesday at its tourist center parking lot, with performances by singers Nine Chen (陳零九), Evangeline Wong (王艷薇), Austin (李建軒), girl group ONI Jump (歐妮醬) and others on tap.
The Nantou County government’s New Year’s Eve party opens at 7 p.m. Monday and will run until 12:30 a.m. Tuesday at Nantou County Stadium, with singer Amber An (安心亞) and bands Sunset Samurai (夕陽武士), Rainbow Valley (虹谷樂團), Mixer (糜先生) and others on hand.
Nantou County’s Sun Moon Lake New Year’s Eve Fireworks Party, which will feature 8 minutes of fireworks, will kick off at 7 p.m. Monday and end at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday at Shueishe Meihe Garden and Ita Thao Pier.
The New Year’s Eve party at Janfusun Fancyworld in Yunlin County will showcase a fireworks display of just over 18 minutes and performances by singers Nine Chen (陳零九), Shi Shi (孫盛希), Elvis Tian (田亞霍) and others.
Also in Southern Taiwan, Tainan’s New Year’s Eve Party will be held from 6 p.m. Monday until 1 a.m. Tuesday at the high-speed rail’s Tainan Station and include performances by bands EggPlantEgg (茄子蛋), Cosmos People (宇宙人), and singers Fang Wu (吳汶芳) and Pets Tseng (曾沛慈).
Kaohsiung’s Dream Mall New Year’s Eve party will kick off at 7 p.m. Monday and run until 0:45 a.m. Tuesday with performances by singers Nick Chou (周湯豪), Della Wu (丁噹), Tiger Huang (黃小琥) and Amber An (安心亞).
Also, in the southern port city, Kaohsiung’s E-DA World New Year Eve’s fireworks will showcase a 999-second fireworks and light display.
