TAIPEI (The China Post) – Members of popular South Korean boy band BTS have made a name for themselves around the world, cooperating with various companies ranging from retailers to restaurants, cosmetics, and cars.
On Jan.17, Line, a Japanese freeware app for instant communications, announced plans to work with Big Hit, BTS’s management company, to create a manga about the boy band.
The main storyline will be based on the 2015 album “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life,” featuring the band’s seven iconic members: Jin, SUGA, J-hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook.
Smeraldo Books, the official Twitter account that started publishing stories and videos of the “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life” on Jan. 7, has surprised many fans and raised their expectations.
Smeraldo Books and Line Webtoon then announced on Jan. 17 that the first volume of “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt.0,” out of 16 volumes, will be released in April across seven countries including South Korea, the U.S., Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand, and Indonesia.
The comic has already attracted 20,000 followers with only two episodes released. The story begins two years after the graduation of the seven members from high school. Yet, bandleader RM is sent to jail after a car accident, SUGA and Jungkook had just died, and J-hope is hospitalized.
The series was launched with an underlying message – “If time could be turned back, all mistakes could be corrected” – which echoes the storyline of the series that BTS started with the release of its first album in 2015. After reading the episodes, fans said: “I’ve finally started to understand it.”
“Using comics to explain and collect the stories of the album again is impressive,” another person said. “Hope it goes on to explain more about the plot!”
What is worth mentioning is that BTS actually started gaining attention and popularity with “I NEED U” from The Most Beautiful Moment in Life” album.
