Most people don’t know but “Goodbye Grandma” relates to the band’s vocalist, A-pu, whose beloved grandmother passed away before a concert at Taipei Arena on Sep. 1, 2019.
Five days before the concert, a call informing A-pu that his grandmother was sent to the emergency room put the vocalist at a loss and the upcoming concert in jeopardy.
As chaotic as it could be, A-pu, had to decide, whether stay in Taipei with his team, or to leave the mega-event behind in order to pay a visit to his grandmother in the United States.
Learning about the incident at a critical time, the four other band members encouraged A-pu to live without regrets. The vocalist then decided to fly to the U.S. and come back shortly before the concert.
After struggling along the way to see his beloved grandmother, A-pu, enduring pain, not only finished his performance at Taipei Area but later created the best portrait of his lost love in the Taiwanese-language song “Goodbye Grandma.”
In the lyrics he wrote, “without your company, we all are the lost ones,” singer-songwriter A-pu has surely embedded his deep emotions into his latest work of art to send his share his memories with his loved ones.
