NPM launches VR exhibition, wins honorable mention at GLAMi Awards

TAIPEI (The China Post) – “A Journey Inside Paintings and Calligraphy: VR ART,” curated by National Palace Museum (NPM) and HTC VIVE Arts, recently won the honorable mention at the GLAMi Awards, successfully bringing VR art to the next level.

Among other highlights in the exhibition, “The Spirit of Autobiography” is based on the works from Tang Dynasty calligraphy master Huaisu (懷素), namely “Autobiography. Also, “Autumn Colors on the Qiao and Hua Mountains” from Yuan dynasty painter Zhao Mengfu (趙孟頫) is a on display based on an adaptation from “Roaming through Fantasy Land.”

HTC VIVE Arts team also produced the VR version of “Along the River During the Qingming Festival” (清明上河圖), allowing you to be transported back in time and experience the life of common people back during the Song dynasty.

The National Palace Museum hopes to provide a more casual way to experience art at the museum by combining modern technology and unique curatorial skills.

GLAMi Awards前身為Best of the Web Awards,由美國「博物館與網路」聯盟(Museums and the Web)設立之博物館科技應用指標性獎項,迄今邁入第23屆。

The GLAMi Awards, previously known as Best of the Web Awards from 1997 to 2016, is an award annually held at Museums during a Web conference honoring innovative contributions in the fields of galleries, libraries, archives, and museums.
