TAIPEI (The China Post) – Have you signed up yet for your free YouBike insurance? Taiwan’s popular bicycle sharing system has added “personal injury insurance” and “third-party liability insurance” to its system for cyclists in both Taipei and Taoyuan since October last year.

Still many users seem to be unaware of the free benefits. The registration process is simple, and it can be done online very quickly so that you can get eligible for up to NT$1 million in benefits in case of an accident.

All you need to do is to log into your YouBike app or website account and select “public bicycle injury insurance,” confirm your card number and fill out the required insurance information. (NOWnews)

Even if the aforesaid insurance is free, it does not come automatically. An injured YouBike user learned it the hard way recently and was denied financial compensation for failing to register. The operator is urging all to register as soon as possible for maximum safety.
