Taipei Mayor Ko responds to presidential bid fuss

TAIPEI (The China Post) – Foxconn Chairman Terry Gou (郭台銘) told media on April 16 that he would soon decide on whether joining the 2020 Presidential Election. Asked whether Gou or Kaohsiung Mayor Han would run for president, Taipei Mayor Ko said that Taiwan people should actually think about what is best for society instead of focusing on who is going to run.

But would Ko support Gou to join the race? Ko said that “It’s his right as a citizen; the entire country will make the decision together through democracy,” he said.

According to the latest polls, Han Kuo-yu is the most popular candidate, followed by Ko. Still, Ko remarked that polls are not always accurate and only reflect public opinion at a certain time.

The media also pointed out that Gou met U.S. President Donald Trump even though Ko hasn’t. Ko refused to reply and said the public was just making a fuss of the election.
