DPP demonstrates respect for Terry Gou

TAIPEI (The China Post) –The Presidential Office expressed its respect on April 17 following Terry Gou’s presidential run announcement. According to former Cabinet spokesperson Lin Sheng-che (林聖哲), Lai Ching‑te (賴清德) showed support but refused to comment since Gou is a KMT member.

Gou made the announcement a day earlier while receiving a citation from KMT Chairman Wu Den-yih (吳敦義), honoring his 50th anniversary as a KMT member and contribution to the party for providing an interest-free loan of NT$45 million (US$1.46 million) in the name of his mother.

According to Presidential Office Spokesperson Chang Tun-han (張惇涵), the Presidential Office respected Gou’s decision and said that the ruling party will work harder facing the ever-changing political scene. He also said President Tsai will try her best to fulfill her duty as a national leader.
