On July 14th, drunk foreign immigrant workers caused a ruckus in the Taichung ASEAN square, forcing the police to take action and coercing them to leave.
據「TIWA Taichung 台灣國際勞工協會台中辦公室」在臉書粉絲頁貼文指出，「約莫七點半的時候，警察開始整隊人馬驅趕坐在廣場上的移工們，把群聚的所有人都趕走。」
Around 7:30 pm on July 14th, police had to force several drunk immigrant workers to leave because they were disturbing the neighborhood. According to TIWA Taichung’s (Taiwan’s Immigrant Worker Association, Taichung Office) Facebook page, a member posted on their group that: “It was around 7:30 p.m. when the police started to drive away all the workers sitting in the ASEAN square.”
The deputy director of the Taichung City Government Police Department, Chou Junming left a comment down under the Facebook post clearing up the situation: “After our branch finished our daily duties last Sunday, we received a call from a citizen reporting that there were drunk people causing a scene. We sent out officers to examine what was happening in the square, only to find drunk immigrant workers still loitering around, and that’s why we tried to persuade them to leave.”
