TAIPEI (CNA) — The weather in Taiwan will remain warm and humid on July 19 due to strong southwesterly winds, with central and southern areas prone to sudden downpours, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) forecast.

Heavy rain advisories were issued for Taichung City, Changhua County, Yunlin City, Nantou City, Chiayi City and Taitung County, while an extreme heavy rain advisory was issued for Chiayi County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, and Pingtung County, the CWB said.

Daytime temperatures will be as high as 35 degrees Celsius in Greater Taipei, around 30 degrees in the south, and 30-33 degrees in other parts of the country.

As Taiwan continues to be influenced by a low pressure system in the wake of Tropical Storm Danas, the CWB warned of strong winds that could cause rogue waves in northern, southern and eastern coastal areas, including Green Island and Orchid Island.

On Friday, ferry services between Taitung County and the two islands were canceled due to rough waves.

The services are scheduled to return to normal Saturday.

Other air and land transportation services in Taitung were operating as normal Friday.
