TAIPEI (CNA) — A woman was hit by an incoming train after falling off a platform at Banqiao Station in New Taipei on July 22.

The woman had no vital signs when pulled back onto the platform before rushed to a nearby hospital, police said, adding that they are investigating what caused the incident.

According to eyewitnesses, the woman suddenly jumped off the platform when the Puyuma express was entering the station, the police said.

The incident occurred at 12:53 p.m. when the Puyuma 271 express arrived at the station’s platform two.

The Taiwan Railways Administration said 1,440 passengers and seven train services were affected by the incident.
