【看英文中國郵報學英文】嘉義縣政府、統一超商與天主教中華聖母基金會等單位,8月1日在水上鄉合作開辦嘉義縣第一間為鼓勵「老有所用」,提高失智長者社會參與的「幾點了咖啡館」,讓失智的長輩每週一日化身為一日店員,藉由在超商服務減緩失智症的症狀。

“What’s the Time Cafe?” is a friendly coffee shop in Chiayi County where seniors suffering from dementia can heal through work. The coffee shop, which began operating in collaboration with the President Chain Store Cooperation, Sisters of Our Lady of China Catholic Charity Social Welfare Foundation and the Chiayi County Government on Aug. 1., invites ederly people to make coffee one day per week to help reverse their condition.

中華聖母基金會執行長黎世宏指出,從2017年6月起,「幾點了咖啡館」開幕近3年的時間,看到許多長輩臉上有更多的笑容與自信,家屬們也相當肯定並鼓勵長輩們持續參與。

Asked about the concept of healing through work, Li Shi-hong, CEO of the charitable catholic foundation, said he has seen seniors becoming more energetic and confident as a result of their participation in this project that started in 2017 June. Also, the NGO has received positive feedback from the families. ●
