CTBC Bank ranks 148th on Banker magazine top 1,000 list

TAIPEI (The China Post) — CTBC Bank Co. Ltd. ranks 148th among the top 1,000 financial institutions worldwide, according to The Banker, a monthly international financial affairs publication owned by The Financial Times and edited in London.

It is the first time that a Taiwan bank ranks among the top 150 financial institutions worldwide based on its business operation performance, risk tolerance and sustainability indexes.

The CTBC Bank joined The Banker’s Top 1000 Bank list in 2015; it was listed among the Tier 1 Capital institutions – the highest ranking in Taiwan’s financial industry – from the outset.

This year, the Tier 1 Capital reached US$9.752 billion, up US$159 million from the previous year. The CTBC Bank maintained its capital adequacy ratio and its excellent performance, leading to a global ranking of 148th.

The Banker has listed the world’s top 1,000 banks since 1970. The ranking is based on an exclusive system that measures the scale of operation and performance of each bank. The selection is based on the scale of Tier 1 Capital.

The list includes more than 1,270 banks in 101 countries. It collected and analyzed data from more than 2,000 financial institutions to evaluate their global performance. The Top 1,000 Banks ranking is a highlight of the global financial industry.

In addition to the company’s business performance and soaring sales figures, CTBC Financial Holding company has actively responded to the United Nations’ call for long term commitment to promote sustainable development (Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs)

It was selected for the Morgan Stanley ESG Leaders indexes for five consecutive years since 2014. In addition, it was selected FTSE4Good Emerging Index in new markets for three consecutive years since 2016. In 2017, it was selected into the “Dow Jones Sustainability Indices” and “World index” as well as the “Emerging Market Index.”

Since 2017, it has been listed among the top 2,000 enterprises by Forbes. Since this year CTBC Bank has won 110 top awards in Taiwan and around the world. ●
