TAIPEI (The China Post) — 2019 Frankfurt Book Fair, also known as Frankfurter Buchmesse, kicked off on Oct. 16, featuring the best of Taiwan’s comic books and nature writing — nonfiction or fiction prose or poetry about the natural environment.
Speaking at the opening of “Taiwan: Island of Amazing Stories” on Oct. 16, Syaman Rapongan, an indigenous writer, and Liao Hongji shared their insight on Taiwan maritime literature.
A total of 117 publishers are showcasing 832 printed and digital publications at this year’s Taiwan Pavilion.
As one of the largest trade fair for books, Frankfurt Book Fair features a total of 7,450 exhibitors from 104 countries this year, according to the event website.
Taiwan Pavilion will hold book sessions, and invite comic book writers to show their drawing skills on Oct. 18.
Taiwan’s representative to Germany, Shieg Jhyway, emphasized Taiwan’s “freedom of publication,” during the grand opening, expressing hopes that the book fair would be a platform to build a connection to the world.
