Taiwan flag seen flying at Everest base camp

A Taiwan woman waving a flag on the Everest Base Camp (EBC) in a set of Republic of China’s national flag print bikini drew the attention of netizens on Thursday. The picture was released by Taiwan photographer Min Min (敏敏) among a series of spectacular photos of the path toward the EBC in Nepal.

Min Min wrote in a Facebook post that her team spent seven days to walk to the Everest Base Camp starting from Oct. 4. She remarked that the EBC, standing at an altitude of 5,364 meters, is the foot of the Mt. Everest, with a local temperature of around -4 degrees Celcius.

“Although I didn’t see the peak of the Mt. Everest; I was blessed to get to the Everest Base Camp,” Min Min wrote.

Despite the critical weather, the Taiwan mountaineer surnamed Huang, who was wearing the Taiwanese flag print bikini, told The China Post that she wore the bikini to introduce Taiwan to others. “I brought the bikini while I was on the Seven Summits,” Huang added.

In response to the post, many commented that “ She is so brave,” “It’s freezing but worth it.” “This is the most beautiful flag-raising platform ever,” another person wrote.
