Jewel of new Circular Line unveiled — Banqiao Y15 MRT Station

TAIPEI (The China Post) — The first section of the new MRT Circular Line is poised to start operations by the end of the year with Banqiao Y15 Station sitting at its heart with its colorful design made of stripes and LED lights.

Designed by noted French artist Daniel Buren, Banqiao Y15 Station boasts the artist’s unique stripe pattern in eight different colors. In addition to the platforms and the ceilings, most of the walls of the metro station are rich in colors and stripes.

Daniel Buren is a minimalist artist whose works have been displayed at the Centre Pompidou, Fondation Louis Vuitton, and Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, to name just a few.

What’s more? French designer Emmanuelle Moureaux, who is also known for her implementation of colors, was in charge of the design of other stations on the circular line, according to the director of the Department of Rapid Transit Systems, New Taipei City Government.
