TAIPEI (The China Post/ANN) — Located on the northeast coast in New Taipei City, the “Bitou Cape Trail” (鼻頭角步道) is known for its scenic sea view and mountain lines.

A recently renovated military barrack near the trail has also attracted the attention of travelers since its opening on Nov. 5.

The barrack, which is located at the intersection of the “lighthouse line” and the “ridge and valley line,” features a unique colorful design.

The renovation was aimed at making the tourist spot more attractive, according to Chen Mei-hsiu (陳美秀), director of the Northeast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area Administration (交通部觀光局東北角暨宜蘭海岸國家風景區管理處).

In the past, Taiwan’s coastal line was an important military site; however, as time went by, many military barracks have been deserted. The barrack at the Bitou cape was a small military base in the 1970s.

The renovated military barrack boasts black, green, brown, and pink colors, representing passion, romance, and love. What’s worth noticing is that in line with the colorful theme, the Bitou hiking trail features a rainbow staircase, giving visitors a visual feast.
