TAIPEI (The China Post) — Are you fed up of Taipei, Tainan or Kaohsiung foods? Well, you should try these new places in Jiaoxi Township, a rural township in the northern part of Yilan County!

Most people don’t know but two night markets are scheduled to open in December: Jiaoxi Night Market (礁溪觀光夜市) and the “Hot Spring Night Market” (溫泉夜市)! The former is opening on Dec. 13 while the later will open its doors in mid-December.

Jiaoxi Township is known for its unique hot spring, which contains rich minerals. There is, therefore, little wonder that the “Hot Spring Night Market” will take place on the road behind the Jiaoxi Railway Station every Sunday.

If you can’t wait to visit the new market, trial operations of the Jiaoxi Night Market, sitting next to the Jiaoxi Transfer Station (礁溪轉運站) from Friday to Sunday, will kick off on Dec. 6 with over a hundred food stands.

What’s more? The mayor of Jiaoxi Township said that the traditional markets will also feature art events in hopes of breathing new life into Jiaoxi.
