Most religious groups teach followers how to do good rather than encourage littering that destroys our environment. A netizen surnamed Chang, however, questioned the behaviors of some religious enthusiasts who threw paper trash overt the fence of the Tunnel of Nine Turns, Taroko National Park in a video posted to Facebook on Tuesday.
The leader in the group allegedly said: “Your sins will fly away as well,” to his followers. Although some people tried to stop them and called local police, the group ignored them.
When police officers tried to discourage the group, the members drew a comparison between Taiwan and Hong Kong police and complained that the litter was organic and decomposable.
Chang also pointed out that the group was made of both adults and children.
In response to the video, a netizen comment: “Didn’t they find out that all sins have returned?” Another said: “This kind of religious activity should be held at trash landfills.”
