Speaking of future election debates, President Tsai Ing-wen said she has fulfilled her past promises and participated in past debates without restriction, nor reservation, while attending the Taipei Fintech Exhibition on Friday. The president was responding to a comment from KMT presidential hopeful Han Kuo-yu to participate in presidential debates.
In response to the mayor of Kaohsiung, Tsai said that he gave the impression to the public that he often avoided joining the city’s interpellation session, adding that he contradicted himself a lot.
Vice Premier Chen Chi-mai said everything the presidential candidates say during the debate will be a commitment to the voters, adding the politicians should keep their word.
