A first for local athlete: ‘Ting Ting Jump’ is now official!

TAIPEI (The China Post) — A 17-year-old gymnast, Ting Hua-Tien(丁華恬) has recently become the first Taiwan athlete to have a gymnastic move named after her.

The “Ting Ting Jump” was officially credited as the “Ting Hua-Tien” move by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) which commended her modified version of a floor routine.

The modified move consists of a jump with the back leg creating a circle (ring position), and landing with a 180 degree turn.

This is an added achievement for Ting who was recently qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics; the first Taiwan female gymnast to do so since 1968.
