TAIPEI (CNA) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), in partnership with the Chinese Television System (CTS), will air this year’s Taipei 101 New Year countdown fireworks show live globally through TV channels and social media platforms.

In a press statement, the ministry said the satellite broadcast of the annual fireworks show will begin at 11:55 pm Tuesday night.

“The MOFA has provided the satellite signal receiving parameters to foreign TV networks through our representative offices abroad,” the statement said.

The Taipei 101 fireworks show can also be viewed on Trending Taiwan, MOFA’s YouTube channel, MOFA further said.

According to the management of Taipei 101, the world’s second tallest skyscraper, this year’s fireworks show, which will last for 300 seconds, will be a combination of single-shot-tube firework displays and computer animation through the building’s giant T-Pad wall.

The single-shot-tube fireworks, which contain one preloaded fireworks charge, will fire tri-color fireworks for the first time, compared with only one color in past years, to make the show more entertaining, the management said on Dec. 18.

The animation will feature rare and protected species in Taiwan, such as the leopard cat, Formosan black bear, mikado pheasant and green sea turtle, along with themes such as hope, nature, moving forward and a bright future, according to a firework preview video released by Taipei 101.
