TAIPEI (The China Post) — The Taoyuan Airport MRT announced on Monday that express trains will be available every 30 minutes during off-peak hours until Sept. 30.
The timetable applies to express trains on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., as well as those circulating at all times on national holidays and weekends.
According to a transportation official, the traffic volume of the Taoyuan Airport MRT is mainly composed of passengers from abroad. Given that border restrictions have yet to be lifted, it was decided to maintain the express trains’ 30-minute frequency.
As the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC, 交通部) is expected to gradually allow international tourism and relax border control on Oct. 1 at the earliest, the Taoyuan Airport MRT has decided to extend the reduced frequency of express trains until then.
