TAIPEI (CNA) — 28 Taiwanese nationals returned home late Tuesday from Turkey after that country lifted its ban on international flights earlier this month amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Cathay Pacific flight carrying the Taiwanese nationals arrived at Taoyuan International Airport at 7:48 p.m. from Hong Kong.

The group took off from Istanbul on a Qatar Airways flight on Monday, making transit stops in Doha and Hong Kong on their way home.

The 28 Taiwanese, consisting of students studying in the country, individual travelers, and businessmen, had been stuck in Turkey since it banned all international flights in late March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
