Michael Bowcutt, an American missionary who has lived in Taiwan for two years, is a graduate from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Utah State University. After graduating, he first traveled between the U.S. and Taiwan for business, visa-free.

Given that Taiwan’s semiconductor industry has become the center of Asia and Bowcutt’s love for the convenient and nice living environment in Taiwan, he eventually decided to bring his wife and children to Taiwan.

Bowcutt was then appointed as the Taiwan office manager of a Utah-based software and factory automation service provider, Romaric, which is located in the Hsinchu Science Park.

While in the U.S., Bowcutt submitted an application for the employment gold card from the Taiwan National Immigration Agency’s “Foreign professionals online application platform” website.

He said that everything went smoothly for him, including beginning work in Taiwan, applying for health insurance and living in Taiwan.

While waiting for the approval of his employment gold card, Bowcutt brought his family to Taiwan to prepare their new home. His wife was more than six months pregnant at the time, and he was worried about his family’s residency and the impending birth of his third child.

After asking an NIA service station how to obtain ARCs for his family members, the family of four was given a detailed explanation, an employment gold card and residence permits. After settling everything, his wife successfully gave birth to their third son in Taiwan.

Now, Bowcutt has become quite fluent in Chinese, loves Taiwanese food and has made many friends in Taiwan.

In his spare time, he likes to take family trips and has visited numerous places in Taiwan.
