TAIPEI (The China Post) — The 2020 Taiwan East Coast Land Arts Festival (東海岸大地藝術, TEC LandArts Festival) will be held from Aug. 4 until Oct. 30. If you’re interested in humanities, art, music, and food, you should definitely participate!
It’s organized by the East Coast National Scenic Area Administration, Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications (交通部觀光局東部海岸國家風景區管理處).
The festival includes creative works that combine the East Coast’s natural environment, topography, and spatial aesthetics to show the uniqueness of the East Coast.
TEC LandArt focuses on both resident and local projects while emphasizing the dialogue between art, nature, and humanities. The goal of this festival is to shape the unique culture and landscape of the East Coast through tourism and modern culture.
The theme this year is “boundary where ocean and land meet” (邊界聚合) and will highlight the natural rhythm of the East Coast. It will stimulate creativity and vitality. There will be works made by artists-in-residence.
Among them, seven groups of domestic and international artists were invited to collaborate in May. They worked in the Jialulan Recreation Area (加路蘭遊憩區) in Taitung, and the Duli East Park (都歷處本部) and the Hualien Visitor Center (花蓮遊客中心).
There will be nine moonlit sea concerts in total. The performers will include Suming, Sangpuy, Ilid Kaolo, Biung, Fann and more.
- August 4-6: “Meeting at the border, rocking at the border, meeting the soul of the world at the border”
- September 3-5: “Dancing on the border, meeting yourself at the border, and walking in the border’s moonlit forest”
- October 2-4: “Drunk at the border, chanting at the border, and create a future at the border”
There will also be an open art studio and a creative art market. Competitions for both environmentally friendly tableware design and a Trashion marine life creative fashion show design will also be held.
Minister of Transportation and Communications Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) said that the East Coast is the most high quality and comfortable place to travel to.
