TAIPEI (The China Post) — Following Taiwanese-American singer Will Pan’s (潘瑋柏) marriage announcement on Monday, many friends, including Mandopop king Jay Chou (周杰倫) and Hong Kong singer G.E.M. (鄧紫棋), have expressed surprise and sent blessings to their friend.
Among other highlights, Chou said “Oh shoot!” with a party popper emoji, which has topped the searching keywords on Weibo, China’s Twitter.
Fans of Pan were also amused by Chou’s comment, saying: “Are you surprised or shocked” while another wrote that Chou was surprised hahaha!”
On the other hand, Hong Kong singer G.E.M. was also very excited when she found out about the news and called out on Weibo.
“Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I didn’t know you were getting married until I found out online, but big blessing! Be happy!” she posted to Weibo.
Ahead of his 40-year-old birthday, Pan surprised his fans on Monday with the announcement of his marriage to a 26-year-old flight attendant to Instagram and Weibo.
“Today, I want to share a good thing with you all,” he wrote. “Yes, I am very happy now, I already have a partner to spend the rest of my life with me, and we are officially starting our family life!”
Pan’s wife Luna is a flight attendant at China Eastern Airlines (中國東方航空) and was once described as “the most beautiful flight attendant” by Chinese media.
The young flight attendant has been in a relationship with Pan for nearly four years, and in early 2019 there were rumors that he had registered for marriage in the U.S, according to Chinese-language media.
Will Pan started his career as a host of Channel V programs. In 2011, he was awarded the “Best Actor” award for “Endless Love” (愛∞無限) at the 46th Golden Bell Awards, Taiwan’s equivalent to the Emmy Awards.
In April 2013, Pan was ranked 76th on the Forbes China Celebrity 100 list.
