Following the popularity of the self-proclaimed Taiwanese guru Master Miaochan (妙禪師傅), a video of another religious group claiming that one of its members has been possessed by President Tsai Ing-wen is circulating online to the amusement of the young and the young at heart.
A local Taiwanese Facebook fan page with 130,000 followers recently shared a video of a mysterious religious group, where a self-proclaimed guru called “Holy Emperor” preaches and claims to invite the spirit of President Tsai to appear.
The woman beside the “Holy Emperor” was allegedly “possessed” by the president’s spirit from the outset and even interacted with her. “Do you remember you came to visit last month? You are still feisty as usual,” said the so-called emperor.
He even asked President Tsai to call on him next time in person and reminded her to worship Mazu more frequently.
This silly video has been shared by more than 3,000 people on Facebook, with netizens expressing shock at the ridiculousness of the video.
One said: “How did the worshippers manage to keep a straight face?”, while others commented that the whole thing was such a farce, and still others wished that the Emperor could invite the spirit of other famous people.
